Software Test Engineer – Test Automation (m/f/x)

Your tasks

  • Tasks include the definition and regular review of internal standards and processes in the context of quality assurance
  • Responsible for setting up test scenarios, automate integration and system tests and execute manual tests of our products
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of test specifications and complex test plans
  • Write test cases in line with a specification to test a piece of functionality, checking ambiguities in tests with Development Lead and providing feedback to colleagues so that revisions to test cases can be agreed and the functional specification can be updated
  • Set up hardware and operating systems so that they are ready to perform test cases, in line with requirements, seeking guidance from QA or development colleagues if needed
  • Follow written instructions to execute test cases on specific areas of product functionality and check outcomes against expected results
  • Enter defects into the bug tracking system by recording the steps that were taken to exercise the functionality and the technical problem that occurred, so that tests can be easily replicated and results can be analyzed by the development team
  • Monitor outcomes of tests and assess impact on functionality and project timelines
  • Explain test results to relevant software developers, other test engineers, technical writers and other departments

Your profile

  • Degree in a technical discipline with several years of detailed and proven experience in test automation especially of a backend-system software stack in the areas of integration testing and system testing
  • Competent handling of state-of-the-art test management systems
  • Good understanding of modern test-automation architectures and their integration in CI Pipelines
  • Confident dealing with scripting languages (e.g., Python) and test-automation frameworks (e.g., Robot Framework)
  • Understanding of platforms like Windows Server, Red Hat Linux/CentOS and SUSE Linux
  • Practice in defect analysis in close collaboration with software development
  • Good understanding of QA best practices
  • Good understanding of Software Testing Test Techniques
  • Proven interest in latest technology trends
  • Fluent verbal and written English communications
  • ISTQB® or other software testing certifications are a plus, but not required
  • Behaviour Driven Development (BDD)
  • Test Driven Development (TDD)
  • GUI Test Automation Knowledge
  • Ability to work with Linux and Windows operating systems
