Both its u.trust GP HSM Se-Series and its flagship Payment HSM Atalla AT1000 are certified at the highest current FIPS levels; VS-NfD certification for u.trust GP HSM Se-Series is pending
AACHEN, Germany – 12 May, 2026 – Utimaco, a leading global provider of IT security solutions, today announced that its General Purpose Hardware Security Module (GP HSM), u.trust GP HSM Se-Series, has obtained FIPS 140-3 Level 3 certification. Organizations operating in regulated environments can rely on the Se-Series for use cases such as PKI, digital signing, and protection of cryptographic keys, where independently validated, hardware-enforced security is essential.
Utimaco’s flagship Payment Hardware Security Module - Atalla AT1000 Payment HSM - had obtained the FIPS 140-3 certification by NIST already last year, making Utimaco the first and currently only HSM vendor to offer a Payment HSM providing the highest security for payment processing and data protection following the latest NIST standard.
Certifications are the central framework for security and trust in our digital world and a key factor for customers when they choose a solution or a vendor for their security-sensitive IT infrastructure. Being able to offer a fully FIPS 140-3 Level 3 certified HSM portfolio makes Utimaco a trusted partner for its customers across industries, in government bodies, critical infrastructure, health, payment and finance and many others.
FIPS 140-3 is the latest standard set by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). First introduced in 2019, it will become the successor of the current level FIPS 140-2.
In addition to its FIPS 140-3 Level 3 certification, Utimaco’s u.trust GP HSM Se-Series has been submitted for VS-NfD certification which is expected to be achieved later this year.
Manish Upasani, Head of Product Management at Utimaco, said: “We are truly proud to offer this level of certified security, performance and feature-richness across our HSM portfolio to our customers, enabling them to meet their demanding security standards.”
