Global leader in data protection introduces HSM simulator to ease development and integration to uses of all experience levels at Black Hat
Black Hat Booth #2827 and AACHEN, Germany – Aug. 5, 2024 – Utimaco, a leading global provider of IT security solutions, announced today the availability of its HSM Survival Guide for Crypto Dwellers to complement its free SecurityServer Simulator.
Both offerings are designed to make it easier for organizations to understand how to use hardware security modules (HSMs) in any scenario (on-premises, cloud or both). HSMs have become a key part of security infrastructure, expanding into new use cases such as post-quantum computing (PQC), 5G, blockchain and cloud.
The new HSM Survival Guide for Crypto Dwellers is a collection of integration guides and joint solution briefs that show how the SecurityServer Simulator can be used to integrate the HSM with third party applications that provide standardized cryptographic APIs. It’s designed for both first-time and experienced HSM users.
The SecurityServer Simulator for Utimaco’s u.trust General Purpose Hardware Security Modules enables users to try full integration testing before buying an HSM, with an easy-to-install and fully functional offering that offers no-cost proof of concept. Utimaco is the only HSM vendor to offer a simulator that allows users to conduct evaluation, development and integration testing without needing hardware. It supports the development process by giving users free access to Utimaco’s SDK to test and validate HSM firmware.
With Utimaco’s HSM simulator and the new guide, users are equipped to do any integration testing before live deployment and gain an overview of Utimaco’s established and proven integrations with market leaders including Keyfactor, Cryptomathic, ShardSecure, AppviewX, Garantir and InfoSec Global. For any custom applications, the software development kit allows users to implement and create proprietary code and algorithms — ideal for complex, proprietary systems or customization requirements.
With its easy integration capabilities, Utimaco’s General Purpose HSMs enable deployment of secure key generation, management and storage for the most common use cases, including public key infrastructure (PKI), data encryption and code and document signing.
At Black Hat booth #2827, the Utimaco team is demonstrating its next-generation u.trust General Purpose HSM Se-Series along with its partner, ShardSecure. The company leverages Utimaco u.trust General Purpose HSMs to provide secure at-rest encryption for the ShardSecure engine encryption keys, adding a critical layer of security for its business.
Cindy Provin, chief strategy officer, Utimaco, said:
“The digitized world requires strong data protection and compliance solutions that you can trust to thwart threat actors seeking to compromise sensitive data. Today’s security and cryptography professionals need every advantage they can get, and we’re offering these resources to help them protect their digital assets, facilitate secure communications and ensure compliance with ever-increasing privacy regulations and industry standards.”
